DPx HEST™ Original Fixed Blade


The original brutal-use fixed blade returns. Made in America by Ontario Knife Company.
 
The DPx HEST Original that began it all will be released in October 2011. The manufacturer chosen for this iconic survival blade is Ontario Knife Company of New York state who has been making knives for 150 years. The new DPx HEST Original has a 57-58 Rockwell Hardness Index 1095 spring steel blade and features an improved Kydex sheath by DeSantis. Ontario will be implementing some new technology and processes specifically for this long-awaited blade.
 
The improvements on the DPx HEST Original include:
A strengthened pry bar after removing a lashing point near the pry bar.
Increased internal strength due to modification of the internal storage cavity and screw mounts.
Harder powder coating on the blade with a finer texture.
Bead-blasted Micarta olive drab scales.
Improved DeSantis Kydex sheath with Molle-compatible mount snaps.

DPx Gear launches a new type of blade: the Hostile Environment Field Tool or HEFT.  The DPx HEST was created to be small, compact and versatile. The DPx HEFT takes our brutal-use commitment further in 4" Sleipner steel and 6" Niolox alloy configurations, each of which is the U.S. knife design debut of Italian designer Tommaso Rumici. Like the DPx HEST II, each of these knives is available in a Woodsman and Assault version.
 
The DPx HEFT 4" is an extraordinary feeling knife. The thickness, length, balance and feel make you want to see just what would stop this blade. The 4" DPx HEFT Woodsman is about three ounces heavier than the Original DPx HEST and the 4" DPx HEFT Assault is about four ounces heavier that the Original DPx HEST.  Each knife comes with a beautiful hand made sheath: Italian leather for the Woodsman and Cordura, Molle compatible tactical with pocket for the Assault.
 
The 6" DPx HEFT is a new look in knives. Steering away from the typical bayonet "lowest bidder" design ethic towards a global proven ergonomic approach that results in a large utility knife that is light, balanced and versatile.
